Understanding how obesity can affect your health can bring up questions. How is it connected to blood pressure? What does it mean for heart health? How can treatment help? Having clear, trusted information is a helpful place to start.

The Obesity Action Coalition (OAC) has newly updated three fact sheets to help you better understand obesity and related health conditions. These resources offer easy-to-follow education you can read at home, share with someone you care about or bring to a conversation with your health care professional.

The updated fact sheets include:

  • Obesity and Hypertension: Learn about high blood pressure, how obesity may contribute to it and why checking your blood pressure matters. The fact sheet also explores care options and questions to discuss with your health care professional.
  • Obesity and Heart Health: Explore the relationship between obesity and heart health, the many factors that influence risk and ways individualized care can support your health.
  • Obesity and Type 2 Diabetes: Better understand insulin resistance, risk factors, testing and the role obesity treatment can play in preventing or managing type 2 diabetes.

These fact sheets are part of the free education available in OAC’s Resource Library, where you’ll find articles, brochures, videos and guides on a wide range of topics. Whether you’re learning about obesity for the first time, exploring treatment options or looking for information to share with family and friends, the library is a useful place to start.
