Overview of OAC Advocacy
The Obesity Action Coalition (OAC) is an IRS registered 501 (c)(3) National nonprofit organization dedicated to giving a voice to individuals affected by the disease of obesity. We recognize that obesity is a complex, chronic disease that is attached to various social stigmas which make it difficult to find support, access care and navigate day-to-day life. The OAC was formed to build a nationwide coalition of people living with obesity as well as patient advocates to do the following:
- Increase public education on obesity
- Advocate for access to safe, science-based treatment
- Strive to eliminate weight bias and negative obesity stigma
- Promote research in discovering new and effective treatment
- Empower and support individuals affected by obesity
