Why the OAC Exists

We are an organization that works toward helping individuals along their journey toward better health through education, advocacy, awareness and support.

In 2005, at a meeting of U.S. legislators, it was recognized that there was no unified group whose only focus would be representing individuals who are affected by the disease of obesity. It was then that the idea for the Obesity Action Coalition (OAC) was born with the goal that this organization could create needed change for those who are living with and/or are affected by the disease of obesity.

Today, the Obesity Action Coalition (OAC) is a more than 80,000 member-strong 501(c)(3) National nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the needs of every individual affected by obesity.
