Tampa, Fla. –The road to weight-loss and weight management is often paved with confusing and misleading messaging, which makes improving health quite challenging. More than 93 million Americans face this challenge each and every day, but the nation’s leading weight and health charity, the Obesity Action Coalition (OAC), is set to offer a ground-breaking National Convention aimed to help all individuals on the lifelong journey with weight.
For three full days on August 15-18, the 2nd Annual Your Weight Matters National Convention will convene at the Arizona Grand Resort & Spa in Phoenix, AZ, to offer the latest evidence-based weight management strategies from the country’s leading experts on weight and health. What’s unique about the OAC’s Convention is the vast array of education offered, perfectly designed to help any individual along their journey to a better weight and improved health.
Among the country’s leading experts on weight and health, the Convention will also welcome Councilman Daniel T. Valenzuela from the City of Phoenix as an honorary guest. Councilman Valenzuela is spearheading a new health initiative in Phoenix, FitPHX, which emphasizes the importance of addressing obesity, nutrition education and more. Councilman Valenzuela’s proactive approach to improving health, through FitPHX, greatly synergizes with the Your Weight Matters Convention’s overall message on the importance of weight and its impact on health.
“I am humbled to have been asked to participate in this year’s Convention,” said Councilman Daniel T. Valenzuela. “I am an advocate for taking a proactive approach to healthcare, and getting down to a healthy weight is one of the most important steps someone can make. We cannot have a healthy city, state and country without healthy people. Programs like FitPHX, and conventions like this, offer support that can really move people in the right direction.”
“We are incredibly excited to host the Convention once again this year. This has been an exciting time with new options being made available to those affected by obesity and excess weight as well as increased insurer and government interest in providing access to such treatments. With millions battling obesity and excess weight daily, the Convention is designed to provide attendees with an overall understanding of weight, health and much more,” said Joe Nadglowski, OAC President and CEO.
“Who’s in Control? The Science behind Willpower,” “Understanding and Managing Food Addiction,” “Healthy Living for Individuals with Type 2 Diabetes and Excess Weight” are just a sampling of the more than 46 educational topics slated to be presented this year by leaders in the healthcare field.“ The Program Agenda committee has done an amazing job at putting together a comprehensive agenda that will not only provide attendees with useful, real-world information, but also prepare them for the road ahead in their journey,” said Pam Davis, RN, CBN, BSN, OAC Chairman.
