Tampa , FL – The Obesity Action Coalition (OAC) is excited to launch its national “Raise Your Voice” membership campaign. Designed to enhance the voice of those personally affected by or who have an interest in obesity, the “Raise Your Voice” campaign seeks to build a nationwide coalition of patients, family members and professionals to proactively get involved in helping educate and advocate on behalf of the millions impacted by obesity.

“The more patients we unite in our efforts to educate and advocate on behalf of those affected by obesity, the better our chances of changing the negative stigma associated with obesity and increasing access to coverage of safe and effective treatment options,” said President and CEO Joseph Nadglowski, Jr.

The OAC, a newly-formed nonprofit patient organization, offers membership in the following categories; Patient/Family Member, Allied Professional Member, Physician Member, Surgeon Member and Institutional Member (bariatric surgery centers, weight-loss management centers, etc.). Membership is on an annual basis and gives you access to numerous resources and the latest information on what is occurring in the obesity community.

Members will receive an official charter membership card/certificate; OAC News – a quarterly newsletter exclusively for members; subscription to Obesity Action Alert – a monthly electronic newsletter; and representation through advocacy in addition to information on advocacy issues concerning patients.

In addition to general membership, the OAC is proud to debut its Chairman’s Council, allowing individuals and organizations to join at a higher level of commitment. Members of the Chairman’s Council have the opportunity to directly impact the work of the OAC and become more knowledgeable about the organization.
