Tampa, Fla. – On the heels of an unbelievably successful National Convention, the Obesity Action Coalition (OAC) is excited to announce the launch of a brand new FREE web-based educational program, “OAC’s Educational Webinar Series: Because Your Weight Matters – For Your Health.”
Throughout the month of October, the OAC will offer its members and the general public a total of four online educational webinars featuring topics from the 2013 Your Weight Matters National Convention. The webinars will feature topics such as self-perception, willpower and much more.
“The OAC members asked for evidence-based education. We answered. The educational webinar series will allow us to educate and engage the OAC membership in a unique way. We received an overwhelming positive response to this year’s education featured at YWM2013; however, we know that many of our members were not able to attend the Convention; therefore, we wanted to be able to provide the same level of content directly to those who could not join us,” said Pam Davis, RN, BSN, CBN, OAC Chairman.
Delivered directly to computer screens across the country via Google+, the educational webinar series will help individuals affected by excess weight or obesity gain a better understanding on a variety of topics impacting their health. Quite often, information on weight and health can be biased or non-evidence based. The OAC ensures that its educational content is delivered by some of the most highly-respected individuals throughout the healthcare community.
The webinar series will feature a virtual A-list lineup of speakers and moderators, including Molly Gee, MEd, RD, LD; Robert Kushner, MD; Merrill Littleberry, LCSW, LCDC, CCM, CI-CPT; Lloyd Stegemann, MD, FASMBS; Sean Connolly, PhD; Dawn Jackson-Blatner, RD, CSSD; and Pam Davis, RN, BSN, CBN.
“We are very excited to launch this free resource for our members and friends. The webinars will feature the opportunity for viewers to interact with the speakers and moderators and ask questions via the Google+ event page. The OAC recognizes that our members want access to evidence-based information. The webinar series is an excellent way for the OAC to reach all of our nearly 50,000 members nationwide,” said Joe Nadglowski, OAC President and CEO.
The OAC’s Educational Webinar Series will debut on Tuesday, October 8 at 8:00 pm eastern standard time. The first webinar, Does that Really Work? Deciphering Popular Weight-loss Trends, will be presented by Molly Gee, MEd, RD, LD, and moderated by Robert Kushner, MD.
The OAC is a National nonprofit charity dedicated to helping individuals affected by obesity. The OAC was formed to bring together individuals struggling with weight issues and provide educational resources and advocacy tools.
