As 2020 comes to a close, the holiday season is upon us – a time for slowing down and reflecting on all that we are truly grateful for.
Here at the Obesity Action Coalition (OAC), the holiday season is also when we launch our year-end fundraising campaign! We recognize that during this season of giving, many companies and nonprofits are competing for your attention. However, we hope you can spare a moment to consider the OAC and our mission by participating in this year’s campaign: Share Your Why, Give Your Why!
About the Campaign:
From December 1st (Giving Tuesday) through December 31st, the OAC is asking everyone in our community to Share Your Why, Give Your Why!
What is your “Why? It could be many things. For example:
- Why is the OAC meaningful to you?
- Why do you support the OAC’s mission?
- Why do you get involved or help the cause?
- Why is the OAC important to your health journey?
- If you are a healthcare professional, why is the OAC important to your work?
How to Share Your Why:
Whatever your “why,” we want you to share it with us on social media by using the hashtag #ShareYourWhy and tagging @ObesityAction! All it takes is a quick message, picture, or video that captures the reasons why you are supporting the OAC this holiday season. Make sure you use our hashtag and tag the OAC’s social media platforms for a chance to win some OAC holiday swag!
Your participation will not only help raise awareness about the OAC’s work, but will continue to fuel us in our never-ending mission to elevate and empower individuals affected by obesity.

How to Give Your Why
We also ask that you consider all the reasons why the OAC is important to you and Give Your Why by making a tax-deductible, year-end donation of any amount to our ongoing efforts. Whether it’s $5, $10, $50, or more, every donation will help us continue our work in science-based education, obesity awareness, support for individuals in their health journeys, and advocating on behalf of all who are affected by obesity. You will receive a donation receipt immediately for your records.
In the spirit of the season, the OAC wishes you a healthy and happy holiday season. Thank you for being part of our community and for giving so generously!
