Obesity Action Coalition (OAC) calls on all Ohio residents to take action today to expand access to care. Join us in urging the Ohio Senate Finance Committee and Senate Leadership to support and pass House Bill 33, which includes language to expand coverage for comprehensive obesity treatments under Medicaid.
OAC applauds the inclusion of comprehensive obesity treatment coverage in this legislation, including prevention and wellness services, nutrition counseling, intensive behavioral therapy, bariatric surgery and follow-up services, and FDA-approved anti-obesity medications (AOMs).
OAC believes that obesity is a complex, chronic disease that requires serious action, access to science-based treatment and comprehensive obesity care to improve quality of life and health. We demand that people affected by obesity have access to affordable medical coverage in the same way as those with other chronic diseases. People with obesity should be treated with the same dignity and respect offered to their peers. Ohio is forward thinking to acknowledge obesity for the chronic disease that it is and take steps to treat it in the same serious fashion as other chronic disease states such as diabetes and hypertension.
The OAC Action Center makes it easy to get demand meaningful change!
