Tampa, Fla. – The OAC is honored to welcome Michelle Vicari as Chairwoman of the Obesity Action Coalition (OAC). Ms. Vicari has been a long time member of the OAC and recipient of the distinguished OAC Chairman’s Award in 2016 for her exemplary service as an OAC National Board of Directors member since 2013.
Ms. Vicari, better known as “Eggface” from her highly successful blog, The World According to Eggface, is a bariatric surgery patient and strong advocate for those affected by obesity. She has played an instrumental role in the development of the OAC’s Your Weight Matters Annual Convention by serving as Chair of the Convention Planning Committee since 2015
“I am very excited to accept the role of Chairwoman of the OAC National Board. The OAC has tremendously helped me in my weight-loss journey and to be able to now help the organization grow even more and give back to it is an incredible honor,” said Michelle Vicari, OAC Chairwoman.
Ms. Vicari’s passion for the cause is only surpassed by her warmth and energy for those dealing with obesity. In her role as Convention Planning Committee Chair, she could often be found sitting one-on-one with Convention attendees engaging with them and listening to their victories, struggles, needs and more. “The OAC holds such as special place in my heart for so many reasons, but I think the biggest reason is the ability to connect with real people and see the OAC community form throughout time,” said Vicari.
“The OAC National Board, staff and our members are very much looking forward to Michelle’s Chairwomanship. She has a very unique way of identifying with all of our members, regardless of where they’re at in their journey with weight and health. The OAC has a lot of new and exciting things that we’ll unveil in 2018 for not only our members, but anyone dealing with obesity. We are very excited to have Michelle leading the charge,” said Joe Nadglowski, OAC President and CEO.
For 2018, the OAC would also like to welcome Sunil Daniel, MD, FTOS, to the OAC National Board of Directors. Dr. Daniel is a board-certified obesity medicine physician with fellowship training in clinical nutrition and obesity management. He is a fellow of The Obesity Society and has authored several scientific papers on obesity and its medical management. He also serves as co-chair of the OAC Education Committee and is a frequent author for the OAC’s quarterly publication, Your Weight Matters Magazine.
