Tampa, Fla. – Throughout the month of June, the Obesity Action Coalition (OAC) has celebrated its 10 year anniversary by providing the public with a glimpse into the history of the OAC, detailing its many accomplishments and more. Since 2005, the OAC has stood up for individuals affected by obesity, and we are now asking for all individuals to stand with the OAC and sign the OAC’s pledge to help build momentum for the future.
In recognition of its 10 year anniversary, the OAC is proud to unveil two unique opportunities for individuals to take part in to help the OAC move into the future with a strong unified voice. For the remainder of 2015, the OAC is excited to offer all individuals the option to join or renew their membership in the OAC at a discounted rate of only $10! “Becoming a member of the OAC is the single most important action that someone can take in the Coalition. Membership provides us with the resources and voices to make a difference in all areas of the OAC, such as weight bias, advocacy, education, support and more,” said Ted Kyle, RPh, MBA, OAC Chairman.
In addition to the $10 Membership Campaign, the OAC is also proud to announce the establishment of the 10 Year Anniversary Fund. “This Fund is the OAC’s first-ever dedicated fund that will directly benefit its general operating costs to carry out the OAC mission into the future. Through the 10 Year Anniversary Fund, we are excited to provide the opportunity for individuals to give on a one-time basis, or set-up a recurring gift to easily support the OAC on an ongoing basis,” said Lindsay McGhay, OAC Director of Development and Engagement Initiatives.
“Looking back at the past 10 years, I am simply amazed at what the OAC accomplished in a relatively short period of time. From 2005 to today, the OAC has stood up for our members and the 93 million Americans affected by obesity. It is my hope that the public will take advantage of our 10 year anniversary opportunities and join the OAC or contribute to the 10 Year Fund. The simple reality is that we could never have accomplished so much if it weren’t for the more than 50,000 voices that represent the OAC on a daily basis. We need our voice to continue to grow, and these unique opportunities are a perfect way to accomplish that growth,” said Joe Nadglowski, OAC President and CEO.
