Tampa, Fla. – Today, the Obesity Action Coalition (OAC) has taken the challenge of #GivingTuesday and announced it is giving away 250 FREE memberships in the OAC. The OAC recognizes that not every individual with a need and desire to join the nation’s strongest coalition for individuals with obesity is able to afford the cost of membership. With #GivingTuesday a designated day where the nation is challenged to give back, the OAC is joining-in the effort to give to those who need it most through these free memberships.
With obesity affecting more than 93 million Americans nationwide, it is crucial that a strong and unified voice is created through membership. We know the path to improved weight and health is overwhelming and difficult, and we also know the importance for individuals to stand with others along their journey. OAC membership gives individuals a voice and the support they need to take charge of their weight and health. Membership is also accompanied with a variety of valuable membership benefits, such as a yearly subscription to the most popular publication for individuals with obesity, Your Weight Matters Magazine.
“We are very excited to provide these free memberships to the public. #GivingTuesday is a day where we are all challenged to give back to charity. The OAC felt it was important for us to equally pay-it-forward and give back as well. By providing free memberships in the OAC, we are helping to break down the barriers that exists for individuals to seek help and will continue to strengthen the OAC voice and help individuals improve their quality of health through education, advocacy and support,” said Joe Nadglowski, OAC President and CEO.
