Tampa, Fla. – Today, the Obesity Action Coalition (OAC) and the YMCA of Central Florida are proud to announce that Orlando residents will have the exciting opportunity to learn more about their weight and health, receive a free health screening and much more during the YWM Healthy Living EXPO, open for FREE to Orlando residents on Saturday, September 27, hosted in conjunction with the 3rd Annual Your Weight MattersSM National Convention at the Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld.

The YWM Healthy Living EXPO will open its doors for FREE to the public on Saturday from 8 am – 5 pm where local residents will have the opportunity to visit a diverse array of vendors showcasing proven devices, products and services in the health and wellness industry.  “Each year, the popularity of the Your Weight MattersSM Convention Exhibit Hall continues to grow. For 2014, we thought it would be an excellent opportunity for the OAC to give back to our host city, Orlando, and invite the public to attend the YWM Healthy Living EXPO at no cost,” said Joe Nadglowski, OAC President and CEO.

During Saturday’s EXPO, attendees will also have the opportunity to experience a snippet of the incredible education offered at the Your Weight MattersSM National Convention. The OAC will offer abbreviated educational presentations in the exclusive YWM Healthy Living EXPO Theater, where Orlando residents will have the opportunity to hear from the country’s leading researchers and experts in the field of weight and health. “This is an invaluable one-of-a-kind opportunity for EXPO attendees,” said Ted Kyle, RPH, MBA, OAC Chairman. “The Convention is known nationwide for its evidence-based education and top-notch presenters. If you’re coming to the EXPO, you will not want to miss this opportunity,” continued Ted.

“Fully half of all Americans, including people we know and love, suffer from at least one chronic disease, many of which are related to obesity,” said John Cardone, YMCA Senior Vice President of Health Strategies and Business Development. “Oftentimes, people want to improve their health, but they don’t know where to begin. The YWM Healthy Living EXPO is a tremendous opportunity to provide the personalized education and support people need to transform their lives. Together, the YMCA and OAC are committed to making Central Florida a healthier, stronger community, one person, one family, one neighborhood at a time.”

In addition to interacting with vendors and having the opportunity to view some of the education presented at the Convention, EXPO attendees can also participate in a FREE health screening at the YWM Healthy Living EXPO. “Hosting the EXPO in partnership with the YMCA of Central Florida really allows the OAC to maximize its community impact this year. The YMCA of Central Florida’s health-focused programs are simply amazing, and we’re confident that the EXPO’s offerings will nicely complement the Y’s health improvement efforts in Central Florida,” said Joe Nadglowski.
