Tampa, Fla. – Today, more than 93 million Americans are affected by the disease of obesity. Many of the individuals affected often find themselves struggling with the understanding of how their weight impacts their health. It is not uncommon for Americans to be exposed to dozens of “weight-loss-focused” messages on a daily basis; however, rarely are these messages based on evidence-based and unbiased information.

In an effort to combat obesity and provide individuals with comprehensive, unbiased and evidence-based educational information on weight and its impact on health, the OAC is proud to host the Inaugural Your Weight Matters National Convention. Set to take place at the exquisite Hilton Anatole Dallas, the Convention promises to offer attendees a never-before-seen approach to weight and health education and advocacy. The Convention will feature educational sessions led by the country’s leading experts on weight and health on topics such as medically managed weight-loss, metabolic and bariatric surgery, weight bias, body image issues, childhood obesity, weight plateaus, nutrition, exercise and much more.

“There really will be something for every individual impacted by excess weight and obesity. One of the most innovative aspects of our Convention is that attendees will have the opportunity to take part in a ‘Lunch with the Experts.’ During this lunch, attendees will sit one-on-one with a healthcare professional and discuss specific topics, such as food addiction, intimacy issues and weight and more. We know the Convention is going to finally offer individuals what they’ve been looking for and answer all their weight and health-related questions,” said Joe Nadglowski, OAC President and CEO.

Full Event Registration is $95 (before Sept. 12) and includes access to all educational sessions, official Convention T-shirt, souvenir canvas tote bag, Convention Program Book, ability to pre-register for the OAC’s Advocacy Training Session (special session limited to the first 100 interested attendees), ticket to Event Welcoming Ceremonies Dinner and a ticket to OAC’s 1st Annual Awards Dinner.

“We have received hundreds of registrations from all across the U.S. and we are excited to see so many individuals wanting to take part in our Convention. From the sessions to the events, such as the Dallas Walk from Obesity, we know the attendees are going to love every minute of it,” said Pam Davis, RN, CBN, BSN, OAC Chairperson.
