Tampa, Fla. – The OAC is honored to welcome two new members to the OAC National Board of Directors. Nina Crowley, PhD, RDN, LD, and Kristal Hartman bring their experience and dedication to improving the lives of those living with obesity and join the Board in directing the OAC and its activities, setting long-term goals for the association and ensuring that all programs and initiatives are in the interest of individuals affected by obesity.

Dr. Crowley has been working with weight loss surgery patients for 10 years and leads the interdisciplinary metabolic and bariatric surgery team at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC. She is also involved with the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) as well as the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and has passion for policy development. For more than 10 years Dr. Crowley has been a member of the OAC, becoming more active over time and presenting at the Your Weight Matters National Conventions in 2016 and 2017.

Ms. Hartman is a Biomarker Strategy Specialist who works with researchers and scientists in the development of precision medicines to treat a variety of diseases, including obesity. While she has a supportive network of family and friends, she routinely felt alone in her journey with obesity. In 2016 she attended a Hill Day where she learned about the OAC and a few months later she attended her first Your Weight Matters National Convention. As Ms. Hartman so passionately states, “I found my people, I found my village, and I’m not looking back… the most exciting part of my new role on the OAC Board is to work with this amazing team to make all of our goals and aspirations for our OAC Community become a reality!”

Michelle Vicari, OAC Chairwoman states, “It is a pleasure to have two such dedicated women join our National Board of Directors. Their insight and experience will be an asset as we move into 2019. The OAC has exciting things in the works for the year ahead and these two new members will be beneficial in our efforts.”
