Stories are a powerful way to create change and offer support. They allow us to attach names, voices and deeply personal experiences to the disease of obesity – one which affects millions of individuals throughout the world and is too often misunderstood, judged and stigmatized.

That’s why the Obesity Action Coalition (OAC) is both excited and humbled to announce the launch of our newest story-sharing initiative: Weight of the World!

What is Weight of the World?

Weight of the World is a global initiative that aims to connect us through our stories. It is a unique video collection platform, powered by OAC, that seeks to help individuals struggling with obesity know that they are not alone. Others are out there that look like you, sound like you and have had similar experiences shape their lives. These stories bring us together, offer support and change perceptions about what it’s like to live with obesity.

Submit Your Story and View Stories from Others

You can be a part of powerful story sharing! OAC invites you to submit your own story about obesity as a personal video testimonial and add it to the Weight of the World Video Library. This platform is a safe and honest space to express your struggles, setbacks and successes with obesity while offering support to others and finding it in return.

OAC Community members can also use their personal account to view stories submitted by others. This is a great way to learn more about obesity and the people it impacts, as well as connect with others who you can relate to on a personal level.

How to Share Your Story

Don’t worry – your story doesn’t have to be a full video production! Whatever devices you have on-hand are fine – whether it’s a laptop, tablet or even your smart phone. Once you’ve recorded your story, you’ll find step-by-step instructions on how to upload your video to our password-protected Video Library on our “Get Started” page.
