Today, 93 million Americans are affected by the disease of obesity. The Obesity Action Coalition is the nation’s largest grassroots obesity organization, one of our core pillars is to help raise awareness of obesity, access to care, weight bias and much more. Some of our awareness initiatives include:
Stop Weight Bias Campaign
The Stop Weight Bias Campaign wants to raise public awareness of weight bias from childhood to adulthood and change the public perception of obesity and weight bias by broadening understanding of why we must #StopWeightBias. This campaign is committed to raising awareness, putting a stop to weight bias and pushing equality forward to build a better world, free of weight bias, where everyone is treated with dignity and respect.
Your Weight Matters Campaign
Your Weight Matters Campaign is a national campaign produced and presented by the OAC to assist individuals affected by excess weight with taking charge of their health. The campaign helps to raise awareness on weight and its impact on health, while empowering individuals affected by excess weight to take the challenge and take the first step of speaking to a healthcare provider about weight management options.
Obesity Care Week (OCW)
Obesity Care Week (OCW) is an annual awareness campaign week aimed at changing the way we care about obesity by creating a society that understands, respects and accepts the complexities of obesity and values science-based care. Obesity Care Week sets the stage for generating awareness across the globe about topics such as access to care, weight bias, childhood obesity, and obesity treatment.
