Demand Starbucks Reverse Decision to Stop GLP-1 Coverage

Here’s the Issue: Starbucks has long promoted itself as a leader in employee benefits, recently highlighting an independent analysis that ranked the company No. 1 in overall hourly benefits value among more than 60 U.S. retailers. Yet beginning in October, Starbucks will reportedly end coverage of GLP-1 medications prescribed for weight loss, while continuing coverage for other health conditions.

Obesity is a complex, chronic disease, and people living with obesity deserve equitable access to evidence-based treatment. Restricting coverage for obesity treatment while covering the same medications for other conditions creates an inequitable standard of care and reinforces weight bias. Starbucks should live up to its reputation as a leader in employee benefits by ensuring employees living with obesity have access to the care they need.

Take Action Now: Use OAC’s advocacy tool below to demand Starbucks reverse this decision and continue providing equitable coverage for evidence-based obesity treatment, including GLP-1 medications, for employees. .
