Strengthen Obesity Care for Florida State Employees
Background: Florida’s current weight management pilot for state employees has shown short-term health benefits, but it is limited by a one-year participation cap, restricted enrollment and the lack of a required medical diagnosis. The program reached full capacity in 2025, even as costs tied to obesity-related conditions continue to rise.
Florida has an opportunity to strengthen this program by implementing a comprehensive, evidence-based obesity care model that combines intensive lifestyle and behavioral therapy with FDA-approved medications to support long-term health and cost savings.
