Tampa, FL — As the Obesity Action Coalition (OAC) closes its 20th anniversary year, the organization celebrates two decades of empowering individuals affected by obesity through education, advocacy, awareness and community support.

“Celebrating 20 years is incredible, but what really drives me is the people whose lives we’ve touched,” said Joe Nadglowski, OAC President and CEO. “From breaking down barriers to care, to creating communities where people feel understood and supported, we’ve made real progress. But the work isn’t done. We’ll keep fighting weight bias, expanding access to evidence-based care and standing up for every person affected by obesity.”

Since its founding in 2005, OAC has championed policy initiatives promoting fair and equitable treatment for people affected by obesity, including improved access to evidence-based care and insurance coverage for treatments. Its programs have grown to include robust education initiatives, support networks and community events that reach families, teens and adults nationwide.

Looking ahead, OAC remains committed to addressing weight bias, increasing awareness of obesity as a chronic disease and advocating for affordable, comprehensive care for all individuals affected by the disease of obesity. With a growing community of more than 90,000 members, OAC continues to foster a movement fueling meaningful change.
