This December, Your Weight Matters Regional is coming to Memphis, and the city is officially joining in the celebration.

On Saturday, December 6, 2025, the Your Weight Matters Regional event will take place at the Hilton Memphis, offering a free half-day of trusted education, expert speakers and practical tools to help individuals take charge of their health. In recognition of the city’s commitment to improving community wellbeing, Mayor Paul Young has proclaimed December 6 as Your Weight Matters Memphis Day.

“We’re grateful to the Obesity Action Coalition and its partners for bringing this important conversation to Memphis,” stated Memphis Mayor Paul Young. “When organizations come together to share knowledge, reduce stigma, and empower people to make informed health choices, our whole community benefits. This kind of work helps us move closer to a healthier, stronger Memphis.”

The proclamation marks a significant milestone for Memphis, highlighting the impact of collaboration between community leaders, local organizations and national health advocates in creating meaningful change.

This year’s event is presented in partnership with the YMCA of Memphis & The Mid-South, a cornerstone of community wellness and inclusion. Together, OAC and the YMCA are uniting around a shared mission: helping people access the education, compassion and support they need to make sustainable health choices.

From free breakfast and giveaways to actionable sessions led by top health professionals, Your Weight Matters Memphis offers a welcoming space for everyone, whether you’re managing weight, supporting a loved one or seeking to learn more about the science of health.

The event will feature a dynamic lineup of presentations designed to address both the physical and emotional sides of weight and health, including:

  • “Why Are We Gaining Weight, and Why Is It So Difficult to Lose and Keep It Off?” with Katherine Saunders, MD
  • “Finding an Eating Strategy That Works for YOU” with Steph Wagner, RD
  • “Managing the Stress Without the Calories” with Robyn Pashby, PhD
  • “Understanding Your Treatment Options” with Dr. Katherine Saunders

Each session provides practical, evidence-based guidance and aims to replace stigma with understanding, a core part of OAC’s mission.
