What is National Obesity Care Week?
Since 2015; the Obesity Action Coalition (OAC), American Society of Metabolic Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), the Obesity Medicine Association (OMA), The Obesity Society (TOS) and the STOP Obesity Alliance have joined together as the Founding Champions of National Obesity Care Week (NOCW) to Change the Way We Care about obesity by:
- Providing science and clinically-based education about obesity.
- Advocating for access to affordable and comprehensive care.
The founding champions have worked with Partners, other non-profit Champions and thousands of invested individuals to spread awareness about the importance of providing science and clinically-based education on obesity and advocating for access to care. From in-person visits on Capitol Hill to social media posts and shares about the facts of obesity and even donated surgeries in honor of NOCW, the week is one of great excitement and opportunity.
NOCW envisions a society that understands, respects and accepts the complexities of obesity and values science and clinically-based care.
By taking the NOCW pledge, you are opting-in to help spread awareness by taking ACTION during NOCW. Your actions and the actions of all those involved in NOCW2018 play a vital role in changing the way the world views and treats obesity.
