Managing mental health is hard enough, but it might be especially hard right now as our lives change due to the impact of COVID-19 (Coronavirus). Since the OAC is committed to supporting you during this time, we wanted to bring Rachel Goldman, PhD, FTOS, to the spotlight to share with you expert advice about protecting your mental health during these uncertain times.
Dr. Goldman will be taking over the OAC’s Instagram page all day Thursday, April 2nd, to engage with you about mental health in a number of ways:
- Sharing tips and strategies for managing mental health, especially as they relate to factors that impact your weight
- Encouraging and uplifting you
- Answering your questions about mental health and COVID-19
- Directing you to additional resources
About Dr. Goldman
Rachel Goldman, PhD, FTOS, is a licensed psychologist specializing in health behavior change. She is the Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at NYU School of Medicine and is currently in private practice in NYC, where she sees individual clients pre and post-bariatric surgery.
In addition to being a returning and much-anticipated speaker at OAC’s Annual Convention, Dr. Goldman also provides consulting services to other professionals and corporations, including corporate wellness workshops. Prior to starting her private practice, she was the Senior Bariatric Psychologist at the Center for Obesity and Weight Management at Bellevue Hospital. Her work as a bariatric psychologist was highlighted in the June 2016 APA Monitor on Psychology. She is passionate about helping others make behavior changes that will allow them to live happier and healthier lives.
