“Love and support became the fuel that carried me through the hardest moments of my journey.”
Joshua Garson’s journey is a powerful reminder that improving your health is about more than numbers. Today, he embraces a lifestyle grounded in well-being, self-care and a deeper connection to himself and others.
His story shows that meaningful change is not just about discipline or dieting. It’s about connection, encouragement and having people around you who truly care. Growing up, Joshua stayed active through Taekwondo, track and other sports, earning a black belt and competing throughout school. Still, over time, he found himself facing challenges with his health.
Even then, Joshua never let his body define who he was. He built strong friendships, stayed engaged in activities and continued to pursue opportunities. At the same time, there were moments that brought awareness to his health and the need for change.
College introduced a new chapter. At Middlebury College, an active and outdoors-focused environment, Joshua initially worried about how he would fit in. Those concerns quickly faded as he found a supportive group of friends who became an important part of his journey.
With intention, Joshua began making changes that supported his overall health. He created routines that worked for him, built accountability and focused on sustainable habits. One meaningful milestone along the way was walking more than 1,500 miles, a reflection of his consistency and commitment over time.
Along the way, he faced emotional challenges like fatigue, hunger and moments of isolation, learning that caring for his mental and emotional health was just as important as any physical change.
What made the difference was support. Encouragement from friends and family became a steady source of strength. On one difficult day, a friend simply told him they were proud of him, a moment that stayed with him and helped carry him forward.
Through consistency, support and self-compassion, Joshua built a healthier life. More importantly, he gained confidence, resilience and a deeper appreciation for the people who stood beside him.
His journey reflects a powerful truth: improving health is not about chasing a number. It’s about building a life that feels better, stronger and more supported every step of the way.
