YWM2015 – Our Journey – Restore. Refresh. Renew.

This week we’ve been hinting at the theme of this year’s Your Weight Matters National Convention on our various social media networks. We hope you have had fun guessing what it could be. I am excited and honored to reveal the 2015 Your Weight Matters National Convention theme and logo today!

This year’s theme is Our Journey – Restore. Refresh. Renew. The Convention Planning Committee after much discussion decided that the balloon imagery and words of the theme best represents what we would like to attendees to experience when we come together this year.

YWM2015 not only marks our 4th National Convention but it also is the 10th anniversary year of the Obesity Action Coalition. For the past 10 years the OAC has been the voice of those affected by obesity through advocacy, support and education. The journey of those 10 years ultimately led to the creation of the Your Weight Matters National Convention as a way to extend the OAC’s commitment to sharing evidence-based education on weight and health and providing an opportunity for this supportive community to come together.

Whether you are interested in the basics, want to cut through the often confusing health information out there, are looking to advance your knowledge about your weight and how it can affect your health, are currently involved in a weight management program, a post-op bariatric surgery patient or are a support-person to someone who is affected – YWM2015 is the place for you! The Convention Planning committee is committed to providing a comprehensive agenda of health, weight, nutrition, fitness, and wellness topics presented by world renowned experts in their fields. We are confident that this year will be the best yet!

Mark your calendars for Monday, March 23rd, 2015! That is the date you will be able to officially register for the Convention. The discounted room block is open now and you can book your rooms online or over the phoneOur host hotel is the beautiful Marriott Rivercenter which is located right on the famous San Antonio Riverwalk. After visiting the hotel just a few weeks ago for the OAC’s annual Strategic Planning Meeting I can tell you, you will love it! I was able to explore a little and even snuck in a visit the historic Alamo which is just a short walk from our hotel.

Keep up-to-date with all the latest convention details by visiting our Convention Web site at www.YWMConvention.com. There, you can sign up for Convention E-news Alerts to receive all the exciting convention announcements straight to your email inbox as they are released. Be sure to also join the 2015 Your Weight Matters Facebook Group, where attendees can chat and get to know one another a bit before we all meet this summer.

I hope you will join us in San Antonio, Texas August 13th – 16th and take the time to restore, refresh, and renew yourself in this lifelong journey we are on together!

    Michelle
Have you established the list of presenters yet? I’ve lost 132 lbs in 9 months post Mini Gastric Bypass and am no longer diabetic, have high BP or cholesterol or sleep apnea or GERD. I run 10k every other day and am a huge advocate for better pre and post Bariatric patient care from the medical tourism companies. I would love to present at your conference and of course intend on attending.

Check out my story on the FB site Weight Loss-Mexico.

Hi Brian, Looking forward to meeting you! Congratulations on your health achievements. Sounds like we suffered from many of the same health issues. I too had my sleep apnea, GERD, and high BP symptoms resolved post weight loss surgery. I am happy for you!

Can overseas candidates apply for the assisted scholarship scheme to attend the convention or is it just for those living in the US?

      Hi Carol,

Feel free to apply as there is no US residency requirement. Though note there is a travel reimbursement cap (see details in scholarship application) that may not completely cover international travel costs.

Hope to see you in San Antonio!
