OAC Elects New Board Members for 2011-2012

Tampa, Fla. –The Obesity Action Coalition (OAC) is pleased to welcome three new directors for the 2011-2012 board terms. The new directors are as follows: Titus Duncan, MD; Robert Kushner, MD; and Rebecca Puhl, PhD.
Dr. Duncan is a bariatric surgeon from Atlanta and serves as Secretary/Treasurer of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) and is a passionate advocate for minority health issues. He is also the President of a nonprofit organization called C.H.O.I.C.E.S., Centers Helping Obesity in Children End Successfully.
Dr. Kushner is a researcher and medical weight management physician in Chicago. He is a Professor of Medicine at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and the Clinical Director of the Northwestern Comprehensive Center on Obesity. Dr. Kushner is also the past President of The Obesity Society (TOS).
Dr. Puhl is the Director of Research and Weight Stigma Initiatives at the Rudd Center for Food Policy & Obesity at Yale University. Her expertise and passion lies in combating weight bias. Dr. Puhl was a former member of the OAC Advisory Board.

The leadership, knowledge and respect that these three individuals bring to an already-distinguished board will allow the OAC to remain at the forefront of the healthcare community in education, advocacy and support,” said Joe Nadglowski, OAC President and CEO.
