Obesity Care Continuum (OCC) Exhibits at Weight of the Nation Conference
May 7-9, the OAC exhibited with the Obesity Care Continuum (OCC) at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Weight of the Nation Conference, held in Washington, DC.
Together, we were able to share the message that obesity is a serious disease and needs to be treated in such a way.
The Obesity Care Continuum is made up of the Obesity Action Coalition (OAC), The Obesity Society (TOS), the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
OAC Welcomes Three New Chairman’s Council Members and Thanks those that Recently Renewed
This month, the OAC welcomes three new additions to the Chairman’s Council – Elkhart Clinic, ReShape Medical and St. Vincent Bariatric Center of Excellence. We are excited to add this many new corporate members just within the past month.
The OAC has two practices in the state of Indiana that have signed-on as participants in the OAC Sponsored Membership Program, granting them membership in the Chairman’s Council. Elkhart Clinic and St. Vincent Bariatric Center of Excellence have both pledged to give each of their patients membership in the OAC. The OAC is excited to add their programs to our distinguished list of participants in the Sponsored Membership Program and through their participation, the OAC’s patient voice will significantly grow.
The OAC also welcomes a new company to the Chairman’s Council, ReShape Medical. ReShape Medical is a medical device manufacturer that specializes in a new treatment for obesity that is currently being evaluated in a U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clinical study. To learn more about ReShape Medical, you can visit their Web site at www.reshapemedical.com. We are pleased to have an emerging company like ReShape Medical as part of our Chairman’s Council.
This month, we also want to thank two current Chairman’s Council Members for renewing their membership at the highest level. Enteromedics is a medical device company and has supported the OAC for the past four years. We appreciate their continued support and commitment to advancing treatments and the cause of obesity. We also recognize the National Association of Bariatric Nurses (NABN) who has also been a long-time supporter of the OAC. NABN is a great ally to have in the fight against obesity and we are grateful for their support at the highest level.
Support through the OAC Chairman’s Council allows the OAC’s efforts to directly help individuals affected by obesity continue. If you are interested in learning about membership in the OAC Chairman’s Council, please click here.>>>
