Tampa , FL – The Obesity Action Coalition (OAC) is excited to debut its new Web site at www.obesityaction.org. The OAC, a newly formed patient-based non-profit organization, is designed to educate and advocate on behalf of those living with and/or affected by obesity.
The OAC Web site offers many user-friendly benefits to obese patients, their families and healthcare professionals. Features of the site include sections titled, “All about Obesity,” “Advocacy,” “Patient Stories” and much more. Also available on the site, visitors can sign up for the first issue of Obesity Action Alert – the OAC’s free electronic newsletter transmitted on the 1st day of each month.
The Obesity Action Alert, debuting August 1, 2005, will provide readers with the most up-to-date information concerning the obesity community, as well as highlight OAC news and resources. To sign up for the Obesity Action Alert, please visit the OAC Web site.

The mission of the OAC is to elevate and empower those affected by obesity through education, advocacy and support. The OAC strives to educate patients, family members and the public on all types of obesity. In addition, the OAC will increase obesity education, work to improve access to medical treatments for obese patients, advocate for safe and effective treatments and strive to eliminate the negative stigma associated with obesity.
