Give2OAC: Support the OAC’s Advocacy Efforts
The Obesity Action Coalition (OAC) has worked on a number of efforts this year to improve access to the treatments of obesity. We’ve conducted hundreds of legislative visits across the country, both in Washington, DC and at the state capitol level. These primarily have revolved around improving coverage under Medicare, Medicaid and state healthcare exchanges, but we’ve also worked on improving access under private health insurance as well.
The OAC was created to give a voice to those of us with obesity, and we take that very seriously. In fact, 50,000 people have joined our organization. The reality is, however, that membership dues only cover about a third of our expenses as an organization.
We need other donors to help support our goals. People need access to the treatment of obesity; people need to be treated with dignity and respect, and the OAC needs resources to make sure those things actually happen.
More than 93 million Americans are affected by obesity.
It’s time that we support these individuals by ensuring they are treated with dignity and respect,
have the right to access safe and effective treatment and are provided with the right information through unbiased education.
The OAC was formed in 2005 to make this support a reality. Our mission is to elevate and empower individuals affected by obesity through education, advocacy and support. For more than 10 years, we have been the voice for those with obesity. With more than 50,000 members nationwide, we stand strong and will continue to fight for the rights of all those affected by the disease of obesity.
