OAC Supports Congressional Effort to Designate the Month of September as "Childhood Obesity Awareness Month"

In December 2009, the OAC joined with dozens of other organizations in supporting a House Resolution sponsored by Representative Marcia Fudge (D-OH) and Kay Granger (R-TX) that would designate September as "Childhood Obesity Awareness Month."

We encourage all Alert readers to TAKE ACTION and become involved in passing this resolution. To help you in this effort, we have posted an alert and sample letter that you can access on the OAC's Legislative Action Center. Please visit the Action Center at www.capwiz.com/obesityaction/home and urge your legislators to co-sponsor the Resolution to raise awareness of childhood obesity.

The OAC Chairman’s Council is a way for individuals, companies and organizations to support the OAC at a higher level. We would like to welcome the newest member of the OAC Chairman’s Council, the Michigan Bariatric Society. The OAC also recognizes the importance of the continued support of individuals and companies through its Chairman’s Council. Special thanks to Dr. Mathias A.L. Fobi of and Medifast, Inc. for renewing their membership in the OAC Chairman’s Council. Dr. Fobi is a well-respected bariatric surgeon in Long Beach, CA and has been an OAC supporter for many years.
