Webinar 1 - Does that Really Work? Deciphering Popular Weight-loss Trends

Molly Gee, MEd, RD, LD, provides viewers with an in-depth look at popular weight-loss trends. Two thirds of American adults are either affected by excess weight or obesity, and the number continues to grow. Yet, everyone is on a diet.  But do they work? Together, we will learn about the factors that drive many popular diets today, successful lifestyle changes and how to use credible resources for evaluation of diets.

Molly Gee, MEd, RD, LD
Translating science into practical terms to help corporate or individual clients has been a career goal for registered dietitian, Molly Gee. Currently, Ms. Gee conducts research in obesity and diabetes at Baylor College of Medicine’s Behavioral Medicine Research Center in Houston, Texas. Ms. Gee is also a passionate volunteer leader for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the Commission on Dietetics Registration as well as a regular media source.

Robert Kushner, MD
Dr. Kushner is a professor of medicine at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and clinical director of the Northwestern Comprehensive Center on Obesity in Chicago. He is actively involved in the care of patients who struggle with obesity along with conducting clinical research and educating medical students. Dr. Kushner is a member of the OAC National Board of Directors and also serves on the OAC Convention Planning Committee.

Webinar 2 - Who’s Staring back at You in the Mirror? Improving Self-Perception

Speaker: Merrill Littleberry, LCSW, LCDC, CCM, CI-CPT

Improving Self-Perception,” looks into the barriers and bridges that propel us to or prevent us from establishing a positive self-image. This webinar takes a therapeutic approach and conveys it into a functional understanding that can be applied into daily life.

Webinar 3 - Who’s in Control? The Science behind Willpower

“Willpower” – it’s something that everyone wishes they had more of at times. In fact, it’s probably safe to say that everyone has wished at some point in their lives that they had more willpower to manage eating behavior. Sometimes we may have wondered if we were overlooked with this genetic  handout. Sean Connolly, PhD, shares with us that the recent science of willpower tells us, it is not “if” we have willpower, but how we use it, and how we can exercise the mental muscle it is.

As the Bariatric Program Director of Centennial Center for the Treatment of Obesity in Nashville, Pam Davis serves as the Chairman of the Board of the OAC, and as the Access to Care representative for the Tennessee American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS). Ms. Davis is chair of the Integrated Health Clinical Issues and Guidelines Committee of the ASBMS and is a member of the Integrated Health Executive Council.
